Not a lot, but it tells us three things at a minimum:
1) what pages they visited
2) how long they spent on the site and of course,
3) the referring source
Sad to say, most visitors will go not further than your first page. I
can't give you a percentage but it is normally quite high. A whole lot
of folks get there and for whatever reason, see something they don't
like or more likely don't see something they like and leave quickly.
Might be that you are in or not in a major city. Or your roof is or
isn't green. Who knows?
Others go on to your rooms and rates page(s) and the same thing happens.
Or they go to Availability and a room is not available when they want so
they go elsewhere. We're still working with Webervations on trying to
retain information about those who look for availability on certain
dates and don't find it. That information might be of use to innkeepers.
The first (home) page, your accommodations (rooms) page, and your
availability page (link) are going to be your most popular pages. After
that, probably Area Attractions (Things to Do), Directions (Location),
and last, History and Hosts.
The specific totals should tell you something about the order of buttons
or click-on links on your page, if nothing else.
The referring source may tell you something about swift departures, too.
If they search for Meissen dinnerware on Google and come to your site
because the text on your dining page says you serve breakfast on it,
they really SHOULD leave quickly! It never failed to amaze me how many
people came to the Hummingbird Inn's site after searching for
'hummingbirds'. But they did, and in amazing numbers...
